Senior Partner

Chicago And Illinois Workers' Compensation And Personal Injury Attorney

Education And Early Experience

Joseph received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1986 from Lake Forest College and his Juris Doctor Degree and Master of Business Administration Degree in a Joint Degree Program from The Dominican University and The John Marshall Law School in 1993.

Joseph was immediately hired by a prestigious defense firm in Chicago where he concentrated on defending employers and their insurance companies in major loss Workers’ Compensation cases throughout Illinois. The firm partners recognized his abilities from the onset and trusted Joseph to oversee high-profile Workers’ Compensation cases for major clientele.

Other clientele took immediate notice of his trial results as well. At the specific request of a team of Illinois Risk Managers of a major client, Joseph formally divested himself of all other firm responsibilities and became their designated attorney to exclusively handle their sizable Illinois Workers’ Compensation caseload. He was even asked to oversee their Workers’ Compensation cases in other States as General Counsel only three years after his graduation.

Founding Leonard Law Group, LLC

In 1998, after five years defending insurance companies and employers, Joseph decided he would rather champion the rights of the injured rather than seek to limit them. In 1998 he joined his brother Andrew Leonard in developing and promoting Employee Legal Services, LLC into a prominent Workers' Compensation/Personal Injury plaintiff’s Law firm that Andrew had started with the assistance and vision of their late father Dr. Eugene Thomas Leonard III. The firm is now known as Leonard Law Group, LLC with Joseph as the firm’s Senior Attorney and is located at Teamster City in Chicago, Illinois.

A Career Dedicated To Representing Injured Workers

Joseph specializes in difficult, career-ending, Worker’s Compensation claims and permanent total disability claims. He accepts cases that other attorneys have rejected as “unwinnable” and consistently shows otherwise. Joseph has represented thousands of Union and Non-Union workers and has successfully argued and won cases before the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission, the Illinois Circuit Court, and the Illinois Appellate Court. Joseph has a 98% success rate on Workers' Compensation claims he has taken to trial and is recognized by his peers as one of the best and most knowledgeable Workers’ Compensation lawyers in the state of Illinois.

Helping The Injured In Chicago And Illinois

It is with this same zealousness that Joseph represents his Personal Injury clients. Joseph concentrates his Personal Injury practice in the area of construction site accidents, representing carpenters, ironworkers, laborers, and all tradesmen and women.

Joseph also represents those injured in scaffolding accidents, crane accidents, trucking accidents, car accidents, bus accidents, medical malpractice, and premises liability. Joseph is currently in the pre-trial discovery process on numerous severe construction site accidents and trucking accidents.
