Matthew J. Leonard
Matthew received his bachelors degree from Augustana College in 2002 and his juris doctorate degree from The John Marshall Law School in 2005. During law school Matthew clerked for Leonard Law Group enabling him to have a firm grasp of the Illinois workers compensation act and rules governing practice before the workers compensation commission. Matthew's workers compensation practice specializes in representing workers who have suffered career ending wage differential injuries under section 8(d)(1) of the Act and those rendered unemployable as a result of their injuries under section 8(f) of the Act. Since 2005 Matthew has represented over 1,500 injury clients and has successfully tried cases before all levels of the Illinois workers compensation court system. In 2011, at the age of 31, Matthew was the youngest Illinois attorney to successfully argue a wage differential claim before the First District Appellate Court (DHL v. Andre Golston and the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission.) Because many of Matthew’s cases involve severe injuries, he is constantly negotiating six figure wage differential and permanent and total disability settlements for his clients. In 2010 Matthew settled over 5 million in workers compensation claims for his clients. He consistently defeats senior partners of defense firms at both the trial and settlement stages of his claims. Matthew's dedication to his injury clients is reflected in the results he has achieved on their behalf. Matthew’s civil practice is dedicated to Law Division commercial transportation accidents, auto accidents, premise liability and dog bites. Matthew lives with his wife and two children in the Chicago suburbs. Matthew may be contacted at Matthew@Leonardlawgroup.net.
